Kaisa Leka is a cartoonist and graphic designer. She has worked for 25 years making comics, published dozens of books with exciting themes such as adventure travel and philosophical thoughts about being.
Kaisa travels with her husband on both sea and land and documents her experiences in beautiful books. Almost thirty years ago, Kaisa drew her first mouse. Later, her big-eared alter ego The Mouse was joined by the flat-footed Duck, that is, Kaisa's husband Cristoffer Leka's anthropomorphic counterpart.
Kaisa says that it was a coincidence that it turned out to be a mouse, a mouse is quite easy to draw and the first time she drew it was before the entrance exams for the graphic design program at the University of Lapland. Since then, the mouse has been on many adventures together with the radar couple The Duck. The characters The Mouse and The Duck have a lot in common with their human models, for example, they have very different opinions about comics, about graphic planning and about how much icing is enough on desserts. In almost three decades, the Mouse and the Duck have experienced a lot, from everyday disputes to outright hardships that later took on a life of their own within the covers of the countless printed works that Kaisa and Cristoffer have designed - together and separately.
Kaisa Leka has been awarded the Sarjakuva-Finlandia, Puupäähattu and Kultahuippu as well as Graphic Artist of the Year together with her husband Christoffer Leka.
Kaisa welcomes all art enthusiasts to her studio, where you can get to know Kaisa's working process, from idea to finished book.
