Stentorp finnsheep wool, soft and curly, inspired me to design knitted pullovers, ponchos in cooperation with skillful local handknitters,. The patterns shows my love for the surrounding archipelago, sagas from Kalevala and Viking mythology. The lambskins are made to vests, hats, the leftover stripes are woven to ryas, sittablets. My aim is to create longlife products to modern consumers based on traditional values. During the years I have lectured under the thema “Finnsheep as a source of creativity” in Finland and abroad. In 2018 I was promoted to member of honour in the Finnish Sheepbreeders Association. In 2019 my Viking pullover got first price in New York Sheep and Wool Festival 2019 in the cathergory for handknitted items of 100 % wool.
During Konstrundarn in the Sheep house, my craft, the sweaters collide with AI art. Prof. Hannu Toivonen will be there himself and inform about AI in creative activities. This year's guest exhibitor is Hannu Toivonen from Porvoo. Professor of Computer Science at the University of Helsinki and AI researcher. He creates surrealist works that reflect past moments you want to hold on to. He is also a popular speaker and is happy to answer questions in an understandable way. In his recently published book “Mitä tekoäly on” (What is AI?), Hannu writes that AI is a computer program, AI is a branch of research, AI is a dream and a nightmare, a marketing term. AI is a metaphor or fairy tale.
During Konstrundan the products are exhibited in the emtied and cleaned sheephouse while the sheep are grazing nearby. As a contrast in the exhibition “Stentorp Collider” is Hannu Toivonens AI art. He is professor in computer science at the Helsinki University and creates pictures with AI. He has recently publisched a book about the topic: https://www.mitätekoälyon.fi
Hannu will be present on both days and visitors will have the opportunity to make their own artwork with his computer.
