Drawing, Painting, Visual arts
Empathy and curiosity lie at the core of my practice - a sincere interest in people and living beings in general and the connections between them.
When I draw, I observe details, exploring them through lines and brushstrokes. I search for traces of inner life - what drives people, what brings them joy, and what causes pain.
I work primarily in classical techniques - oil on canvas, and pen, pencil, and ink on paper. My work is created in a restrained palette, mostly monochrome, with occasional sudden bright accents.
I live and work in Helsinki, where I have resided for the past 16 years. I hold a Master’s degree in Architecture from the St. Petersburg Academy of Arts and I am a board member of the Helsinki International Artists Association.
I’m planning to paint while visitors are present, working live on the piece displayed on the easel, so they can see the progress as it develops. I also intend to talk with visitors about my work and perhaps offer them a cup of tea.
