Information about the artist / the group

I am a long-time Sámi craftsperson, a duojár. Today, I work as both an artist and a researcher. I hold a doctorate in Sámi aesthetics and the multisensory dimensions of duodji. Research and the practice of duodji intertwine naturally in my work.
I am interested in creating artistic duodji from leftover materials that remain from traditional duodji production. The reindeer and the materials it provides are central to my work, but I also make use of fabrics, threads, and other suitable remnants from duodji sewing.
In my art, I explore contemporary phenomena. At the moment, I am particularly interested in issues related to climate change: How does climate change manifest in everyday life? How can I apply the principles of duodji within the demands of modern technology?

Program during Konstrundan

I plan to work on both traditional duodji with a sewing machine and textile art. I want to show the viewer how I use surplus material in my work. If my studio extension is already finished by then, I can hold a small exhibition of my work at the same time. However, the main focus is on making my duodji at my studio room in Styyga. I think the making raises questions that I try to answer in an interactive situation.
