Ceramics
My name is Paula Ruuttunen. I am a ceramic artist and designer, and my relationship with working clay has grown over the years into a deep, lifelong passion. I create ceramic products in small series using wheel-throwing and fire them in a wood-firing kiln.
At this year’s Konstrundan, I will present my wood-fired Bourry box–type ceramic kiln at our summer cottage in Korpikoski, Mikkeli.
The surroundings of the cottage also feature a small-scale art exhibition and an outdoor showroom where my ceramic works are available for purchase.
During the Konstrundan open studios weekend in September, I welcome visitors to our cottage in Korpikoski, where I will present the kiln and demonstrate the firing process.
You are warmly welcome to explore a wood-fired kiln and wood-fired ceramics on Saturday, September 5, and Sunday, September 6, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Kerpuuni Ceramics’ wood-firing kiln is located in Korpikoski, approximately 15 km from Mikkeli.
If you are coming from the direction of Mikkeli: drive along Savilahdenkatu toward Tusku. In Tusku, continue straight on Vuolingonkatu. At the intersection, continue straight onto Vanhamäentie. Drive along Vanhamäentie until you reach the Vahvaselkä shop. After the shop and the rapids, turn right onto Ylätjoentie. Drive about 1 km along Ylätjoentie and then turn right toward the shore – you have arrived.
