Johanna Känsälä is an art therapist and Master of Arts. She works primarily with the scratchboard technique. She has, among other things, illustrated the children’s book The Karelian Pie Monster and Other Stories. Last year, two exhibitions were held: This Journey – Time Held in Slow Emotions, in which she explored the meanings of time, place, and travel, as well as her personal relationship with nature through journeys to the fells of Lapland and the Himalayan mountains.
During Konstrundan, the artist is working on a new series of works using the scratchboard technique. Also on display in the studio are works from the exhibition This Journey – Time in Slow Emotions.
