While I consider myself primarily a photographer, photography itself has become part of my layered cake approach. This means my artistic productions rely on mixed media. I paint, use collage materials and finally photograph my assemblage. I have always found myself somewhere at the nexus of various art forms. This suits me and the African American spirit I have come to incorporate in my mind. These practices often go against the mainstay of Finnish norms where the assumption one has to be lettered (hold a degree) in the art he/she professes to practice. I do respect each area I rely on and tend to study while I engage in expression. I am self taught and at 66 years of age self assured. I rely on professional printing services but do intend to offer my works on paper.

Program during Konstrundan

In 2023 I contracted the services of a local builder. I presented a design of structures he built. I use these to display my works. This year as in previous years, I intend to open my garden area as an open air gallery space. Hanging my artworks upon these triangular structures and placing them about, I both offer intrigue and appreciation to guests. Bearing in mind the importance a great number of the Finnish people place on sustainability. The mix media and the environment offer a symbiosis.
