Information about the artist / the group

I am a retired architect and a lifelong handicraft person. After seeing colorful patchwork exhibitions, I wanted to try it myself. I was hooked immediately - modern quilting is my thing. It was a welcome counterweight to my administrative work. Colors can be used in versatile ways, and almost any fabric, button, or scrap can be utilized. My works are non-representational compositions created for my own pleasure. I haven't sewn a single traditional quilt. Colors, patterns, and textures are my essential starting points. I seek inspiration from courses and exhibitions; craft art studies 2020–2024. I am a member of the Finnquilt association, the Neuliaiset guild, and Oulun Tilkkufröökynät.

Program during Konstrundan

I mainly present wall textiles sewn in patchwork. My strength is the use of colors. Choosing them and fabrics is the most enjoyable part of the work. My work has different surfaces, both machine and hand sewing. There are also examples of felting, rag doll to metal mesh, sackcloth and fishnet warp, and tufting. I can shed light on the development of ideas and the backgrounds of the works. Ugly fabrics create beautiful works. I hope to be able to tell many guests about my work!
