Laamanen’s work fuses hand-modified textiles with meticulous embroidery, creating pieces that are realistic yet decorative. Drawing inspiration from Finnish living heritage—especially Karelian embroidery traditions—she reimagines ancestral motifs through botanical themes, texture, and contemporary mixed-media approaches. With every stitch, Laamanen explores how craft becomes fine art: slow, precise, and emotionally resonant.
During Konstrundan you’re welcome to visit my studio to see finished works and works-in-progress. I’ll present my materials and techniques up close—including the reverse side—and give short demonstrations of my process (incl. double-sided stitching). Visitors can try a few stitches on a shared “forever-in-progress” fabric piece. A small selection of kits and artworks will be for sale.
