I am a versatile cultural professional. A violinist by trade, textile art has been my passion since 1991. I create unique knitwear and woven pieces ranging from rugs to sophisticated scarves. I work exclusively with natural materials and often hand-dye my own yarn.
My recent work includes the textile projects "We all together" and "ABC" with a local village school, and "The Flying Fairy Tale Rug: 1001 Nights" for the Loviisa Library with Pia Müller. Currently, Pia and I work as part-time project coordinators at the Agricola House. Our mission is to promote and enrich diverse cultural activities outside major urban centers.
At the same time as Konstrundan, a small medieval festival, "Agricola's Time in Pernå II," will also be held at the Agricola House. Other artisans will be present as well, including the Pernå Dye-Witches, who dye yarns using natural colors. Tarja’s exhibition, "From Ossuary to Pleasure Garden," is on display in the outdoor gallery (King´s Gallery) , while Pia’s and my medieval-inspired textiles can be found in the main hall.
On Friday evening, Tarja will host a typography workshop.
