I am an encaustic painter from Helsinki. I paint with beeswax, which is a technique that is over 2000 years old and originated in Greece. Encaustic means "to burn in": Different layers of wax are attached to each other with fire. The nature of beeswax is excellent for abstract paintings, strong three-dimensional structures and also collages. I also compose music and have painted my own compositions as well as composed my paintings. Spirituality is important to me and it is reflected in many of my works.
During Konstrundan I will talk about encaustic and its history and show how to paint with wax. Visitors can also try wax painting if they wish.
