Meira Rauta is a jewelry designer and goldsmithing artisan by training, but her deepest identity is that of a jewelry artist. She is fascinated by the effect of the body connection: a piece alone on its stand may be perceived as a sculptural object and not as a jewelry until it has a connection to the body. In her artworks Rauta likes to push the boundaries of what is traditionally expected of jewelry in terms of size and usability. She wants to learn new things and constantly challenge herself technically as she searches for ways to realize her artistic visions. Her works are handmade from the raw materials using goldsmithing techniques. Rauta has been making jewelry since 2008 and she is actively participating in jewelry exhibitions in Finland and increasingly also abroad.
Visitors will have the opportunity to see Meira Rauta's works in progress, as well as an exhibition of design and art jewelry, some of which will also be available for purchase. Some of the works on display at Konstrundan were exhibited at the Nexus II – Jewelry and Touch exhibition in the summer of 2025 at Galleria Carlo Lucidi in Italy. Rauta participated in the Artistar Jewels exhibition at Milan Jewelry Week in October 2024, where she was awarded the Artistar Jewels Network prize.
