Information about the artist / the group

I work as an sewist (sew+artist) under the name byHammartorp, focusing on linen, wool, and the revival of old textiles. My practice is rooted in respect for materials and the stories they carry, transforming them into new, custom‑made garments. I create everything from dresses, trousers, and shirts to patchwork jackets made from recycled denim and warm wool trousers. Since 2022 I have run my business, working from my studio in the Agricola House in Pernaja. Each piece is crafted slowly and thoughtfully, with an emphasis on sustainability and craftsmanship. You can find me most easily on Instagram, where I share my process and finished work.

Program during Konstrundan

At the same time as Konstrundan, a small medieval festival is also being held in the Agricola House, “Agricola’s Time in Pernå II”. Other artisans are present as well, including the Pernå Dye Witches, who dye yarn with natural dyes. Tarja’s exhibition “From Ossuary to Pleasure Garden” is displayed in the outdoor gallery (King´s Gallery), while my and Elina’s medieval-inspired textiles are exhibited in the hall of the house.
On Friday evening, Tarja will host a typography workshop.
