Ceramics, Graphic art, Painting, Sculpture, Visual arts
I am a visual artist and art teacher. I mainly work in graphic arts, paintings and ceramics. My studio is in a 114-year-old stone barn in the village of Ihode in Pyhäranta, just off Highway 8, along an idyllic village road. The studio exhibition also features poetry installations, conceptual art and object collections.
Nature is the greatest inspiration for my art. For me, it means gardening, observing birds, flowers, trees and insects, photography and capturing moods in my mind, from which they eventually turn into stories and works. The characters in my pictures are dogs, birds, dragons and sometimes people.
The warm and bright gallery displays prints, acrylic and oil paintings. On the cold side of the barn, there are ceramic sculptures and poetry installations. I will talk about the works and demonstrate the techniques of printmaking. Barn swallows - the subtenants of the cold side of the barn - may put on a flight performance, as they usually have their second brood at this time of summer.
