Information about the artist / the group

I am Anna-Liisa Kankaanmäki (b. 1985), a visual artist from Lahti. I graduated as a Bachelor of Arts from the Taideinstituutti, Institute of Fine Arts in 2009 and received Master of Arts degree from Aalto University in 2012. I have participated in exhibitions in Finland and internationally and have held solo exhibitions. In 2020, I won the Young Artists Arts Competition at Taidekeskus Salmela. My paintings are included in the collections of Tampere Art Museum and Lahti Museum of Visual Arts Malva.
My works are realistic oil paintings created on canvas and aspen wood panels. Both stylistically and conceptually, my paintings draw inspiration from Baroque and Romantic era painting. My works engage in dialogue with historical paintings.

I'll be in my studio discussing about my work on Saturday and Sunday from 11 am to 5 pm.
