Information about the artist / the group

My name is Mari Stefansdotter and I am a trained graphic artist from the Swedish School of Art in Nykarleby, and I have a Master of Fine Arts from Aalto University. In total, I have participated in over fifty exhibitions, and even though my art practice today is a side job, I have had the opportunity to show my latest exhibitions to a wide audience. In recent years, I have focused on developing my knowledge of screen printing, and it is these works and the processes behind the images that those who visit my temporary studio at Galleri Skarpans will see. My latest image project has been about exploring and depicting "The participation of the Finn horse in the winter and continuation war in Finland", an exhibition that also includes texts by the author Carina Karlsson, also from Åland.

Program during Konstrundan

I will be setting up a temporary work space in connection with my exhibition at Galleri Skarpans in Kvarnbo. The exhibition includes between 15-20 silkscreens and about ten texts by Carina Karlsson, on the theme "The participation of the Finnhorse in winter and the Continuation War in Finland". The visitor will get an insight into what the process between a model (photo or other documentation) and a finished graphic sheet (silkscreen) can look like. A unique opportunity to see an entire theme.
