Marja Viitahuhta is a media artist and filmmaker whose works range from films, performances and installations to photography and collage. She holds a BA degree in performance art from the Turku Arts Academy and an MFA degree from the Finnish Academy of Fine Arts. She has been awarded internationally at Cannes, Stuttgarter Filmwinter, Mediawave, L’Alternativa and Minimalen film festivals and her works have been screened and exhibited worldwide in the contexts of film, visual art, music and performance. Her works have been acquired to both private collections as well as significant public collections such as MoMA, Kiasma and Saastamoinen foundation. Since 2019 she has collaborated with musicians Ánnámáret, Ilkka Heinonen and Turkka Inkilä.
Viitahuhta's studio has open doors during the day, displaying her collage works as well as albums, stickers, and postcards created with the band Ánnámáret. Galleria Huuto is located at the same address, and several artists who have studios at Huuto will also open their doors to visitors during Konstrundan. In addition, there will be a screening of Viitahuhta's moving image works throughout the day, possibly in collaboration with other artists from Galleria Huuto's studios.
