Piia Vainio is a printmaker and craft artist. Her roots lie on a vegetable farm in Southwest Finland, but her passion for making art has led her north to Rovaniemi. She has been practicing printmaking since 2016, and it continues to form the core of her artistic work.
Her applied visual arts studies, which began in autumn 2023 at the University of Lapland, have expanded her practice into ceramics, painting, and textile art. Through her studies, Vainio has also deepened her expertise in community and environmental art projects.
In early 2026, she acquired her own printing press, enabling her to produce prints in her own studio and further strengthening her commitment to printmaking. Vainio is committed to advancing and strengthening the field of printmaking in Northern Finland.
The studio is open to visitors, with opportunities for discussion about printmaking processes. Visitors can try printmaking themselves by pulling a print from tetra pak cardboard using a printing press or a pasta machine. Vainio’s works are displayed on the studio walls.
