Information about the artist / the group

Laura Ukkonen (b.1977) is a visual artist based in Helsinki, Finland. She makes drawings, woodcuts, videos and writes observing the everyday environment, inspired by the self-portraits and home interiors from different eras, as these are themes that many women have dealt with throughout the centuries. Laura Ukkonen graduated from Aalto University as a visual artist (MA, 2012) and visual arts educator (MA, 2019). She also studied fine arts at the Académie des Beaux-Arts in Paris (2010) and art history at the University of Turku (BA). Ukkonen's works are in the collections of the Helsinki and Jyväskylä Art Museums and HUS.
