Iines Jakovlev is a visual artist and designer whose practice brings together material research, site-specificity, and ecological thinking. She works particularly with natural materials. Observation and listening to the material are central to her work. The process is often experimental and slow, involving collecting, dismantling, reassembling, and working on the material’s own terms.
Jakovlev holds a Master of Arts degree from Aalto University. She was awarded the Ornamo Award 2024 Encouragement Prize.
Jakovlev serves as Chair of the artist-led association Meän Periferia, which aims to revitalize the cultural environment of the Sea-Lapland region.
During the Konstrundan event, visitors will have the opportunity to explore various biomaterials and experiment with working with them in practice. The workshop will introduce and allow participants to test cellulose-based binders, fibers sourced from the local environment, and the use of food industry by-products as materials. The workshop is open to everyone and does not require prior registration.
