Information about the artist / the group

I work mainly with jewelry and body art methods. In my works, I deal with Karelianism, the Karelian language and culture, and my family's refugee history. I am interested in the relationship between the visible and the invisible, what we show about ourselves and what we hide even from ourselves. My works take a stand on the current state of the Karelian language and highlight the distinctiveness and independence of Karelian culture. With my work, I strive to open up the pain points that refugeehood and cultural pain bring.
